BIO:
Monogold is a 3 piece hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Their DIY approach to music has enabled them to self record and produce their own sound in their personal studio. Their most recent release and first full-length album is 2011’s “The Softest Glow”. Their 2009 EP, “We Animals”, continues to receive rave reviews from blogs and magazines throughout the US and abroad.
Indie music blog “I Guess I’m Floating” says of Monogold’s “We Animals”: “With fluttering instrumentation and high octave vocals, Monogold have crafted a sound strong enough to make heads nod and ears contentedly sigh.”
Just one month after the release of “We Animals”, the band has received numerous reviews in some notable blogs and magazines including SPIN, The Deli, and Sentimentalist. (see press)
Also, since the release, new opportunities have been popping up for the band such as being accepted to perform at Canadian Music Fest 2010, and recently CMJ 2009 where they performed to a packed house.
The band’s high energy performance style contrasts and compliments their often subdued approach towards melody. The sound is a product of the band’s wide spectrum of musical tastes. Influences range from 50’s do-wop, to indie new wave, to avant-garde, to folk and shoegaze. After many regional and national shows and years of poverty, MONOGOLD has acquired a sound all their own.
