MAL BLUM

BIO:
About Mal Blum Here are some quotes: "Mal Blum's whimsical, melodic songs have been garnering her a devoted group of followers over the past several years. Like many songwriters of her caliber, Blum's strength lies in her words. She's willing to name-drop Harry Potter, toss a nod to vegans, or place her character in the throes of seafood poisoning - always with engaging lyrical imagery. While the songs themselves rarely address gender empowerment issues in an overt way, the discerning listener can pick out the themes. Blum's shows often serve as bonding experiences for fans with similar social concerns." - Ben Krieger (Deli Mag) "Mal Blum's arrival on the indie scene gives us all hope for the future of smart music." - Melissa Ferrick "Mal's songs are loaded with charm and emotional depth, rich in melody and total lyrical ear candy." -Bitch "Mal Blum pushes the boundaries of what a genre is and what it can be." -Gina Mamone, President & CEO Riot Grrrl Ink Mal Blum is a 24 year old songwriter and performer. She started making music as a tenderhearted teenager from New York with a bit of hutzpah and a love for songwriting. Now she spends her time writing songs, traveling the country playing songs, and writing songs about traveling the country playing songs. She has supported many national artists in her years on earth including (one-offs) Jeffrey Lewis, Amanda Palmer, Bitch, Kaia Wilson, Hammell On Trial, and Kimya Dawson as well as folk rocker Melissa Ferrick on her fall 2009, and winter/spring 2010 tours. Her music has been featured on LOGO (voted a top ten video of the year), in numerous music blogs and publications and one time was named Kill Rock Stars' "Demo of The Week" in a blog somewhere, which she was excited about because she was on a really big Thao With The Get Down Stay Down kick at the time. Mal has been touring in 2012 to promote her third full length album, Every Time You Go Somewhere and recording a new full length/full band studio album for 2013. www.facebook.com/malblummusic www.twitter.com/malblum www.youtube.com/malblum Mal graduated cum laude from SUNY Purchase College where she studied Music Production, Spanish and Gender Studies. Mal plans to turn 25 one day, maybe a year or two from now. Mal likes good manners, new jersey diners, popcorn flavored jelly beans, making music, playing shows, and meeting new friends. You should introduce a friend or two to Mal's music. Mal would like to play at your college, venue, event, house party, and bar or bat (or bnai!) mitzvah. L'chaim! **To bring Mal Blum to your venue, private event or college campus, contact: booking[at]malblum[dot]com** (replace [at] and [dot])
