Broadway actor, singer, concert performer, and recording artist, JASON DANIELEY has entertained audiences from New York's Theatre District and London's West End, Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl, and clubs as varied as The Cafe Carlyle, Joe's Pub, and Birdland.
With a highly regarded career in the theatre, Jason's most recent venture on Broadway included starring opposite his real wife, Marin Mazzie, in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical NEXT TO NORMAL. Previous Broadway credits include originating roles such as Aaron Fox in the Kander & Ebb musical CURTAINS (Outer Critic Circles nomination) and Malcolm in THE FULL MONTY on Broadway and the West End. He made his Broadway debut as CANDIDE, directed by theatre legend Hal Prince (Theatre World Award, Drama Desk nomination), and is a frequent guest of NY's highly acclaimed City Center Encores! series, with leading roles in A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN (dir. Gary Griffin) and STRIKE UP THE BAND.
His Off-Broadway performances include THE TROJAN WOMEN: A LOVE STORY by Charles Mee Jr., DREAM TRUE by Ricky Ian Gordon, and originating the role of Homer Collins in FLOYD COLLINS by Adam Guettel. Some Regional Theatre appearances include creating roles in THE HIGHEST YELLOW by Michael John LaChiusa (Helen Hayes Award, Best Actor in a Musical) and BEAUTY by Tina Landau. Other favorite shows in the regions: CASINO PARADISE by William Bolcolm, 110 IN THE SHADE (Garland Award, Actor in a Musical), and BRIGADOON at LA's Reprise concert series.
A smattering of Jason's concert work includes Nanki-Poo in THE MIKADO (American Symphony Orchestra/Carnegie Hall), SONDHEIM: THE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION (NY Phil/PBS Great Performances), CHILDREN AND ART and SONDHEIM'S 75th: THE CONCERT at the Hollywood Bowl (both celebrating Sondheim at 75), Lt. Joe Cable in SOUTH PACIFIC (PBS) and Enoch Snow in CAROUSEL (both with Orchestra of St. Luke's, Carnegie Hall), Tommy in BRIGADOON (Broadway), and fully-staged concert versions of Bernstein's CANDIDE and Gershwin's OF THEE I SING/LET 'EM EAT CAKE (con. Michael Tilson Thomas) with the San Francisco Symphony. As a guest artist, he's appeared numerous times with the NY, Boston, and Philly Pops, NY Philharmonic, BBC Concert Orchestra, LA Philharmonic, St. Louis, Grant Park, Ravinia Festival, Utah, Minnesota, and Buffalo Symphonies. Jason has toured extensively with the Boston Pops and appeared on AN EVENING WITH THE POPS (PBS) and their Fourth of July celebration POPS GOES THE FOURTH (A&E).
OPPOSITE YOU is the cabaret/concert Jason and his wife Marin Mazzie created for Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series. They have performed it nationally at venues from Joe's Pub in New York to the Cinegrill in Los Angeles. It was recorded on PS Classics and their newest album is currently in development. They recently premiered their newest show HE SAID/SHE SAID to much critical acclaim. Jason's rural jazz band The Frontier Heroes released their debut CD self-titled JASON DANIELEY AND THE FRONTIER HEROES (PS Classics).
