Last year Ian Axel released his debut album This is the New Year, the title track of which appeared in Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve film, provided the theme song to an MTV documentary show & had an associated video rack up over one million hits on YouTube. As a live proposition, Ian appeared on the nationally syndicated Rachael Ray Show, completed his first national tours and opened club shows for Ingrid Michaelson, Evan Dando and Glee star Matthew Morrison, while receiving critical acclaim from publications including NPR, SPIN, and New York Magazine -- none of which is as notable as his playful live performances which feature his warm, engaging interplay with the audience, and are reminiscent of the intimacy and energy of performers like Regina Spektor, Randy Newman, Ben Folds and Elton John.
