Beyond the artisenal mayonnaise and handcrafted leather bags, Brooklyn, New York is home to a brewing Folk scene. A scene that gave birth to Phosphorescent, Spirit Family Reunion, and The Lone Bellow. While the old guard has left for greener pastures, in its place has risen an abundance of new faces. Less banjo-driven, and more electric.
Wild Leaves and Nathan Xander are two bands leading the charge. Having recently left their mark on NYC's CMJ Music Marathon, their gripping performances and full band sound no longer confines them to the hushed moonshine slinging speakeasies that dapple the city. Instead, they are bridging the gap between folk and indie rock, filling venues formerly reserved for the black leather and motorcycle boot crowd.
On November 18th, Wild Leaves and Nathan Xander will bring their celebratory songs to Cameo Gallery for a free evening of folk rock featuring Nashville's The Grahams. It promises to be a rousing evening not to be missed.
