London-based wunderkind Will Joseph Cook is preparing to release his debut album Sweet Dreamer on April 14th via Atlantic UK. A 13-track collection of vibrant, technicolor indie-pop, the album was produced by Bombay Bicycle Club's Jack Steadman, Hugh Worskett, and WJC himself. Today, he reveals his anthemic new album track "Plastic" in anticipation of release.
LISTEN / SHARE: "Plastic"
Sweet Dreamer sees Will effortlessly mixing his knack for intelligent, often heart-wrenching lyrics, with the pop sensibilities of Talking Heads and MGMT. He previously shared the infectious album single "Beach (I Wanna Make You Mine)" and it's accompanying video here which have collectively garnered over 3 million streams to date. Perfectly reflecting the bold colours the music itself evokes, Will's videos have quickly become his trademark.
Will Joseph Cook began crafting infectious pop songs at the age of 14, inspired by the off-kilter early 2000s indie of LCD Soundsystem and Vampire Weekend, amongst others. Quickly finding his own creative lane, he released his debut You Jump I Run EP in early 2015 on Duly Noted Records. His ear for a huge hook and intense melody on lead single "Message" led to the track hitting #1 on HypeMachine and #2 on the Global Spotify Viral Chart. His follow up Proof Enough EP firmly cemented his status within the indie-pop world and saw Will employing a more electronic approach, a theme which can be heard throughout the subsequent singles and into his debut album.
