Weakened Friends are heading back out on the road in January, traveling throughout the East Coast and Midwest with Well Wisher and Punch Drunk Tagalongs. In October, the trio -- who are based in Portland, ME -- released their debut full-length, Common Blah. Founded by songwriter Sonia Sturino, bassist Annie Hoffman, and drummer Cam Jones in 2015, the trio is a low pressure outlet for emotionally volatile music. Engineered and produced by Hoffman and perfected over the last year, the record broadcasts heavy feelings amid screech and feedback with little more than a distortion pedal to clog up the signal chain.
PURCHASE "COMMON BLAH"
When Sturino digs into her delivery, Common Blah shifts from an album of familiar alt-rock into a welcome reminder of how '90s revivalism can actually sound rejuvenated and reaffirming. -- Pitchfork
It is a record for anyone who has ever sweated too close to the speakers in the front row to feel the bass rattle their chest and seize hold of their heartbeat, who can't describe in words why they search out the communal comfort of sound, it's just within them. -- The Line of the Best Fit
