The Ware Center of Millersville University will host a bright display of hundreds of beautiful orchids provided by the Susquehanna Orchid Society, as well as artwork by students in grades K-12 from the School District of Lancaster and the music of Spark Brass, as part of First Friday of Lancaster offerings on Oct. 3, in downtown Lancaster. Visitors are welcome to drop in any time between 6 and 8 p.m. to see the Ware Center's main floor transformed into a garden of orchids of all colors and meet local orchid experts, who will be on hand to answer any questions about how to grow and care for these beautiful plans. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase orchid plants and other orchid-related merchandise. (Note: Selfies with orchids will be encouraged!)
Along with orchids, the Ware Center will also host the School District of Lancaster Art Show, featuring two- and three-dimensional art by young local artists from grades K-12. In addition to First Friday, the artwork of the School District of Lancaster and the Art of Orchids show will remain on display over the weekend during Lancaster's ArtWalk. The hours for ArtWalk are Saturday, Oct 4 opening at 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, Oct 5 from noon to 4 pm.
First Friday will also include music of Spark Brass, a quintet of locally based professional musician-educators: Kate Umble, Ryan Sharp, Ashley Cumming, David Ball, and Gary Mayne.
