"83 Days," the first solo release from rising Dutch-Iraqi vocalist and songwriter Wafia, premieres today listen here. The new song, produced by Toro (Tory Lanez, Cashmere Cat, Kehlani) and co-written with Ben Abraham, is the first track from a new EP set for release on Future Classic this summer.
"This song comes after someone I love wouldn't stay," says Wafia. I developed an obsession with noting down the ways their absence was so loud and present. How intangible they had become. How intangible the memories I was left with are. How I reminisce on only the highest points of the situation that I know were so bad for me. How something that ceased to exist anymore could be felt constantly."
"83 Days" follows last year's collaborative EP with
Future Classic labelmate Ta-ku,(m)edian, and the duo's subsequent critically acclaimed world tour. Watch them perform forNPR's Tiny Desk Concert

Wafia, born in the Netherlands and now based in Australia, is 23-year-old Wafia Al-Rikabi. She rose to prominence after posting a Thrupence-produced cover of Mario's "Let Me Love You" online. The release of Wafia's debut EP XXIX, which featured the viral hit "Heartburn," followed in 2015.
