WELLES' Debut Album RED TREES AND WHITE TRASHES Coming This Summer

Rising Ozark, Arkansas born rocker Welles'-the project of twenty-three year old singer and multi-talented musician Jesse Wells-highly anticipated debut album, Red Trees and White Trashes, is due for release on Friday, June 15 via 300 Entertainment. The release follows his 2017 EP, Codeine, which NYLON declared, "It's neither emo nor theatrical-just very matter-of-fact rock that fits nicely alongside the early works of Bob Dylan and The Flaming Lips."

The album's lead single, "Seventeen," which was produced by Grammy award winning producer Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton) and mixed by Grammy award winning mixer Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Adele, Hozier), debuts today. In support of the release, Welles has confirmed select headlining U.S. dates in New York and Philadelphia as well as performances at SXSW. Additionally, Welles is currently on tour withHighly Suspect in the U.K. and Europe and will be performing with the band throughout February. See below for complete tour details.

The bulk of Red Trees and White Trashes was written while Welles was living in a communal art compound in the college town of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Friends of varying artistic disciplines all shared an apartment building they dubbed "Space Mountain." "Some of us worked on bicycles, some of us were doing painting and art," he explains. "It was our own little Andy Warhol experiment. It was crazy."

Welles' small town beginnings in Arkansas helped shape his knack for penning tender, melodic and gut-punching rock music; although playing the underdog remains a highly appealing notion to the soft-spoken musician. "I hope we catch everyone off guard," he says of his steady ascent with a sly chuckle. "I love it. It's how I've always done everything. Just be quiet, come in and do your work. Come out of nowhere. The thing is," he notes, "you can really only pop out of a cake once."

Welles has performed at major U.S. festivals including Bonnaroo, Governor's Ball and Austin City Limits while providing direct support for Greta Van Fleet and Royal Blood.
