WAR, The Family Stone & The Bar-Kays to Play TPAC, 10/11

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) presents an epic night of funk when legendary music acts WAR, The Family Stone, and The Bar-Kays join together for a one-night-only performance in TPAC's James K. Polk Theater on Sunday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. CT.
Tickets start at $28 (plus applicable fees) and are on sale now at TPAC.org, by phone at 615-782-4040, and in person at the TPAC Box Office, 505 Deaderick Street, in downtown Nashville.

An American original, WAR was the first and most successful musical crossover phenomenon that forever fused rock, jazz, Latin, and R&B, while transcending racial and cultural barriers with a multi-ethnic line-up; a musical melting pot and an enduring influence that has sold nearly 50 million records to date. About The Family Stone
Sly & The Family Stone harnessed all of the disparate musical and social trends of the late 1960s, creating a wild, brilliant fusion of soul, rock, R&B, psychedelia, and funk that broke down boundaries without a second thought. Led by Sly Stone, The Family Stone was comprised of men and women, and blacks and whites, making the band the first fully integrated group in rock's history. That integration shone through the music, as well as the group's message. The Family Stone's arrangements are ingenious, filled with unexpected group vocals, syncopated rhythms, punchy horns, and pop melodies.
About The Bar-Kays
"Where there's smoke, there's fire," the saying goes. But where there's smoke and fire, it just may be a live performance by The Bar-Kays. The funk-o-matic Memphis group has been setting audiences ablaze for the past four decades. Originating as the Stax Records' house band in 1966, The Bar-Kays were born from soul music and turbulent times. The Bar-Kays have a career total of 29 albums, including one platinum album, five gold albums, and 20 Top Ten singles. Their career has been documented in music institutions such as The Stax Museum of American Soul Music and the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.
