Vocalist & Theatrical Star Sayonne (Stephanie Ann Courtney) Combines Acting With A 2018 Single Releases Image

From 2011 until this past year, Singer/ Songwriter/ and Musical theatre star,
Sayonne, enthralled Off-Broadway and national audiences with her powerhouse vocals and energetic performances. With stellar turns in popular shows such as Dreamgirls as Deena Jones, Hairspray as Little Inez, Kiss Me, Kate, and Anything Goes her star has been steadily on the rise. Returning to the role that started it all for her in high school, she twice joined Off-Broadway productions of "Little Shop of Horrors;" first in the role of Crystal and in one of the first castings of a non-white Audrey (until the Broadway revival did so later). In the theatre production of the racially charged, "Ragtime" she played Sarah while also appearing in indie films, including the Netflix release, "Set it Up" with Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu.

Recording since the age of twelve, on her debut gospel collection entitled, Lord Just Me and You (2008), she wrote her first song, "I Need You". Growing alongside her vocal talents was an inspirational alternate R&B/Soul/Pop collection over the years including EP's like, "Livin' the Life," "On the Edge," and back to back songs, "Dream Big" (2011) and "Reaching" (2012, with all formerly released under the name Stephanie Courtney). Another song, written after the tragic suicide of a former schoolmate due to cyberbullying, was the 2011 soul-stirrer, "Taken Over." Another notable track, "A Lady" was co-written with actor/performer Chaz Lamar Shepherd (from the movie Set It Off).
Compared to a young Stephanie Mills due to her small size but massive talent, the BFA in theatre arts graduate closed out last year with the hit show, "Sister Act" while releasing a new single in January of 2018. With "Twenty One" (streaming worldwide) she brings a motivating message current with today's headlines. Entering the new year, her primary focus has been on music with the launch of her company 5 Bars Records Inc.

Since June of 2017, Sayonne has been writing, producing, and team building toward a new body of work including a tour planned. She keeps up an active social presence and her ever-growing audience can keep up on social media platform and her official website www.iamsayonne.com.
