Violinist Miri Ben-Ari Honors Nelson Mandela with Latest Single 'Freedom'

Grammy Award winning violinist and producer, Miri Ben-Ari delivers a musical masterpiece in her latest single "Freedom," honoring South Africa's first black president and renowned freedom crusader, Nelson Mandela on the third anniversary of his death.

With the blessing of the Mandela estate, Ben-Ari infused her melody with soundbites of the Nobel Prize winner's historic freedom speech, made on the steps of Cape Town City Hall following his official release from prison. The song also features South Africa's national anthem for a powerful tribute to the revolutionary freedom fighter.

"I am humbled to deliver Nelson Mandela's timeless message of 'peace, democracy and freedom for all' with my music, and honored that the family has accepted my musical representation of this important speech," said Ben-Ari.

Throughout her career, Ben-Ari has advocated to educate and empower others to fight against racism and discrimination through the power of music. She serves as a "UN Goodwill Ambassador of Music," which she was appointed to by the United Nations Association of Brazil.

A classically trained violinist, who once studied under the late classical master Isaac Stern, Ben-Ari has helped sell millions of records by collaborating with other Grammy award-winning artists such as Kanye West, Jay Z, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Wynton Marsalis, Britney Spears, Maroon 5, Akon, Patti Labelle, Brandy, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson, John Legend and Armin Van Buuren. Her album "The Hip Hop Violinist"/ Universal Records features many of these collaborations.

Ben-Ari, Originally from Israel, is CEO and co- founder of GEDENK, a not-for-profit organization that promotes tolerance to young people with creative programs, currently in a fourth year partnership with Scholastic Art & Writing Award for a national program in middle schools and high schools all across America.

Ben-Ari has been the face of many promotional campaigns, including; Reebok's "I Am What I Am" global print and TV advertisements, Vodafone, a Jimmy Hendrix PSA for BET, Pepsi , Coca-Cola and Harman Kardon (products include headphones and home theatre systems).

Among Ben-Ari's accolades are the "Grammy Award" for "Best Rap Song" in 2004 (songwriter along with Kanye West), an "Apollo Legend" by the Apollo theater in New York City, "International Jewish Woman To Watch", "Humanitarian Award" by the Jewish Federation, the "Martin Luther King Award" from Israeli President, Shimon Peres, "Remarkable Woman" by First Lady, Michelle Obama , "Girl Up Advocate Award" from the United Nations Foundation and the "Ellis Island Medal of Honor" be Neco.
