Vevo has today revealed the biggest artists and official music videos of 2018. Globally, there has been over 260 billion video views to-date with an average of 24 billion views per month, and over 12 billion hours of content watched to-date. In the US, Vevo has seen nearly 50 billion video views to-date in 2018, with an average of 4.5 billion views per month, and over 2 billion hours of content watched.
Globally, the Most-Watched Music Video accolade officially goes to "Girls Like You" by Maroon 5. Released in May, the pop tune featuring Cardi B stormed the Vevo charts. The music video, directed by David Dobkin, features several female celebrities including Camila Cabello, Sarah Silverman, Millie Bobby Brown, Ellen DeGeneres, and Jennifer Lopez representing various social justice movements.
Maroon 5 also takes the crown as the Most-Viewed artist globally an astounding 1.6 billion views worldwide.
Notably, in addition to Maroon 5, 3 of the global top 5 artists including Sebastian Yatra, Becky G and J Balvin fall under the Latin genre, as well as well as 5 of the top 10 most-viewed premieres including Becky G's "Sin Pijama," Reik's "Me Niego," and Thalía's "No Me Acuerdo."
"As our charts confirm, 2018 has been an amazing year for music videos. Vevo is proud to have been home to a wealth of truly creative visual work, with major releases providing some of the most talked-about moments in 2018 entertainment," said JP Evangelista, Head of Content, Programming, and Marketing, Vevo. "More than ever, music videos provide an integral visual element for artists' campaigns, with over two billion hours of content being watched. Congratulations to Maroon 5 for taking the crown as the most-viewed artist globally - an astounding feat. Equally monumental was watching Ariana Grande's "thank u, next" take the title for our most-viewed video in 24 hours."
The record-breaking charts also include Ella Mai one of this year's Vevo LIFT artists'. Ella's video for "Boo'd Up" premiered in April and has amassed over 224 million views to date making it the #3 premiere of the year in the US. Prior to the "Boo'd Up" release, Ella Mai's channel averaged 2.4 million US views a month. After the release this average grew to 53.9 million, hitting a peak of 61.3 million views in October.
