Chicago's garage-pop tour de force Varsity will release their sophomore LP, Parallel Person, April 27 on Babe City Records. Parallel Person is an instantly catchy, cathartic and infectious indie-pop record featuring the distinct vocals of singer/keyboardist Stephanie Smith met with infectious guitar melodies and exciting rhythm. The new collection brings their music to new depths that express themes of the uphill battle of isolation, popularity and relatable artistic frustration that frequently occurs in their Chicago lives.
Since forming in 2013, Varsity has produced a number of digital 7" releases and has shared bills with acts including Alvvays, Courtney Barnett, The Hold Steady, Porches and Car Seat Headrest. Following their explosive hit "So Sad, So Sad," which has over 14 million streams, they have unleashed new album singles "Must Be Nice," "A Friend Named Paul" and "Krissy" to critical acclaim. A force to be reckoned with on stage and in the studio, Varsity kick off a national spring tour with a hometown record release show in Chicago this Friday. Catch them live in a city near you.
