On Hold by Fenne Lily on VEVO.
Fenne Lily has released her video for the track "On Hold" today via BlackBook. Fenne herself made the video while roller-skating around London. The song appears on her anticipated debut album, On Hold, out April 6, 2018. Watch the video!
Fenne Lily says: "'On Hold' was written as a thank you for the warmth of the world when I was at my lowest, and I wanted the video that accompanied it to be a raw representation of this gratitude. While I realise that roller-skating through central London giving flowers to strangers isn't particularly cool, random acts of kindness are - ultimately, being nice is underrated. This video is the definition of DIY - it was filmed by a mate of mine who followed me through the city on a skateboard and I edited it all myself, having never done anything of the kind before. It makes me smile to watch, and dorky as it is, I feel this video communicates a joy that often goes untold."
Not many young artists can count up a massive 20 million streams off the back of the first song they've ever written, but then again, not many young artists are Fenne Lily. Drawing comparisons to the likes of
Laura Marling as well as the swooning sound of Angel Olsen,
Sharon Van Etten and underground 1960s psychedelic greats like Linda Perhacs, that song, "Top To Toe," saw the young unknown attract global attention for her sublime songwriting ability and sharp emotional intelligence, as well as her gifted way with melody.
Now 20 years old and based in Bristol, Fenne Lily wrote the songs for On Hold in sporadic bursts. The album was recorded in
Bristol and on the Isle of Wight with producers Tamu Massif and James Thorpe, as well as PJ Harvey collaborator John Parish, before then being mixed by Ali Chant who Fenne first worked with on Aldous Harding's critically acclaimed album Party, for which Fenne provided guest vocals.
Coinciding with the album's release, Fenne and her band will embark on a headline tour kicking off in Cardiff on April 6th.
