On the heels of the release of Tweedy's debut albumSukierae (dBpm Records), Wilco leader Jeff Tweedy and his 18-year-old son Spencer have teamed up with Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman to present a hilarious commentary on the state of the declining music industry in their new video for the song "Low Key." Check out the video!
The Offerman-directed clip was recently filmed in the Tweedys' hometown of Chicago, and features the father-son duo going door-to-door in an attempt to supplement the underfunded marketing efforts of their record label, as instructed by a video-conferenced label executive played by
John Hodgman and enforced by Hodgman's minion play by Michael Shannon. In their efforts, they encounter a wide range of less-than-enthusiastic homeowners including
Conan O'Brien and Andy Richter, Mavis Staples, Chance The Rapper, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche, producer Steve Albini, Jeff's son and Spencer's brother Sam Tweedy and more.
The
video is produced by
Nick Offerman and Odd
Machine with post-production by Beast/Method/Company3.
Sukierae is the debut recording by Tweedy. It features 20 new Jeff Tweedy-penned tunes and has already received worldwide critical acclaim, including 4-stars from
Rolling Stone who calls Tweedy "... one of the most emotionally fluent American songwriters around" and has been lauded by
Uncut as "an album of great depth and richness... 9/10." The album is available in stores and online
now.
