Apple Music has recently been teaming up with artists, such as Harry Styles, Niall Horan and P!nk, who are ready to release new albums, by making documentaries following them through the album-making process. The documentaries include in-depth interviews and exclusive behind-the-scenes shots. The next artist to undergo the treatment is Sam Smith, who plans to release his sophomore album, The Thrill of it All, on November 3rd, which is also when the documentary will be released, as reported by Billboard.
The film will follow Smith as he reflects on his massively successful and Grammy-winning debut album, In the Lonely Hour and creates The Thrill of it All. Producers Timbaland, Poo Bear and Jimmy Napes will also be featured interviews in the documentary.
In the trailer for the documentary, Smith reveals his process for crafting the new album, after the success of his debut.
"I went through, like, this vortex, came out, I feel like I've rebuilt myself as a stronger thing and I'm just gonna go into the vortex again. I wasn't trying to make a big pop record when I made this album. I was actually just trying to make something personal and like a diary," he said.
Smith will also talk about gender fluidity and his female alter-ego "Karamel," who he claims sold all 24 million albums, instead of Sam Smith.

Apple Music will also host a concert on November 3rd in London to celebrate the album and documentary releases. Smith will perform his album for the first time ever at this fan event, which will be live streamed by Apple Music. If you would like to purchase tickets, click here.
