Following an impeccable run of singles including "Nicest Cocky" and the Dubbel Dutch-produced "Jacaranda" (FACT Mag's track of the year 2017), as well as a huge run of sold out shows across the US and Europe, multi-lingual club provocateur Bad Gyal has revealed the visuals to "Blink," the first track from her forthcoming sophomore mixtape.
Filmed while Bad Gyal was on tour in Mexico, "Blink's" visuals celebrate reggaeton - finding her dancing the perreo in a number of picturesque settings. Travelling from smoking floral beds to lushly illuminated rooftops and warehouses, each scene is designed to entice visually as the track does audibly, thanks to production from CANADA - who were also responsible for her "Jacaranda" and "Nicest Cocky" films - and video direction from Alexis Gómez.
A high-energy splicing of dancehall and reggaeton, "Blink" marks the first time Bad Gyal has collaborated with recent Mixpak signee and Manchester Latin club specialist Florentino. Maximising the producer's hard-edged style, Bad Gyal rides the instrumental's full-bodied percussion with highly infectious vocal lines that help the track ripple with polyrhythms. Gliding between ominous, slow-burning bass and intense kick drums - the track merges the forward-thinking melancholy of Bad Gyal with the more immediate, club ready sound that she has also become synonymous with.
The first taste of her forthcoming second mixtape due for release February 23rd, 'Blink' marks a huge advance in the duality of Bad Gyal's sound, taking her progressive approach to party music and carving it further into her own lane. The rest of her forthcoming project embodies this hybrid of sounds too, recruiting the production talents of Jam City, Dubbel Dutch, D33J, the aforementioned Florentino, Paul Marmota, Fake Guido, El Guincho and more to create something emotionally visceral, rhythmically impactful and most of all, completely unique.
