Rising Brighton soul singer Celeste's new EP, Lately, is out now on True Panther/EQT-listen/share here.
Of the new songs Celeste says, "I feel I have found my voice with this EP. I also got to collaborate and write with some people whose work I really admire."
This month, Celeste made her U.S. debut with shows at El Cid in Los Angeles and Baby's All Right in New York. She also performed a string of shows at SXSW where Paste praised, "[Celeste has] a soothing soul voice that only comes around every once in a blue moon."
Celeste recently shared the deeply personal "Father's Son," a track that ruminates on the now West London-based singer's complicated relationship with her Jamaican father, who died when she was 16. The release follows much-acclaimed tracks "Lately," which received great support in her native U.K. from Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart, Twin B, Julie Adenuga and more, and "Both Sides of the Moon" which caused Elton John to remark on his Beats 1 show, "Celeste is quite something else...watch out for her."
Born in California to a British mother and Jamaican father, Celeste is now based in London and released a much-lauded EP, The Milk & The Honey, in 2017 on Lily Allen's Bank Holiday label with production from SBTRKT collaborator Tev'n and Rinse FM's J.D. Reid. The EP saw praise from Annie Mac, Julie Adenuga and publications including The FADER,Wonderland, Interview Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, DIY and more.
