Two emerging Bristish solo artists have new releases coming up this autumn. Scroll down for details!

Glenn Smith's 'Lost and Found' is the lead track and forthcoming single from his Dave McCabe EP 'A Sense of Freedom'. The EP was mixed by Owen Morris (Oasis, The Verve) who describes Glenn's music as "extraordinary".

Gabriel Collins is a Devon musician whose EP 'Count the Seconds' represents the culmination of years of hard work put into learning the drums, piano and guitar and honing his performance skills. Now a solo musician and lead member of the Gabriel Collins band, Gabriel can also be found performing and recording with a huge number of South West England based bands.

Birmingham's Glenn Smyth will be releasing 'Lost and Found' as a single on October 1st. The track comes from Smyth's EP 'A Sense of Freedom'. Mixed by Owen Morris (Oasis, The Verve) and produced by Dave McCabe, 'Lost And Found' is the follow up to 'Dead To The World' and 'What Have I Done To Deserve This?', which received support from the likes of BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, This Feeling and XS Noize. After a youth spent playing football for Derby County, a near career-ending fractured fibula and tibia meant Glenn had time on his hands. This resulted in him picking up the guitar for the first time and his journey into music began.

Two cult Birmingham bands in Escobar and Evil Alien followed, each bringing parallel levels of success in two very different worlds. Escobar - an up tempo rock n roll band in the mold of Oasis and The La's, and Evil Alien - soundscapes, beeps and synths influenced by the likes of Cabaret Voltaire and Depeche Mode, championed by Zane Lowe, BBC Radio 1 and Q Magazine. After eleven of Glenn's songs were published by two of the biggest companies in the industry, Glenn set about recording his solo album with long term collaborator Dave McCabe, and in a twist of fate, he also began working with a man that had a huge influence on him when he was growing up, Owen Morris. In what without doubt is his strongest work to date, 'A Sense Of Freedom' (named after the cult Scottish film) is a collection of five songs, five very personal compositions which speak from his life experiences with integrity and authenticity.

Born in London in 1983, Gabriel Collins had a habit of tapping on any available surface, this continued until his parents bought him a drum kit and he taught himself to play it, as well as seesawing in and out of love with the guitar, but he says his musical life really began with the piano...

Money was tight so piano lessons were out of the question, but when Gabriel was eleven, after the family had moved to Devon, they inherited a piano from a great aunt and under the guidance of teacher Colin Rea, Gabriel flourished. It was Rea who inspired in Gabriel an appreciation of many styles of music as well as instilling in him the skills of improvisation, composition and learning to listen and practice effectively. This grounding led to mentoring sessions in songwriting with keyboard maestro and composer Julian Marshall, of Marshall Hain/Flying Lizards/Eye To Eye fame who helped Gabriel to gain further insight and confidence in songwriting and performance, describing him as "a unique and remarkable voice in popular music songwriting".

After leaving school Gabriel took courses in acting, dance, singing, popular music and jazz before going on to read BA (Hons) Music Composition at Dartington College of Arts.

Following university Gabriel continued to write music while also gaining experience in recording and performing both solo and in a range of bands such as Donna Blitz, Melonbud, Berry Pomeroy, Moscow Magazine, Disney's Head and currently the Gabriel Collins Band.
