Tyde Levi Shares Video For SOBER, Announces Self-Titled EP Image

Tyde Levi recently introduced his music to the world with the irresistibly seductive slow jam "Goldchains" and today he's released the video for his single "Sober". The video, directed by world renowned Australian surf filmmaker, Kai Neville, perfectly captures the song. Paper wrote, "his visuals perfectly complement his sound. Levi appears to be singing about a past or current love, with memories of said relationship's ups and downs. The video, then, feels appropriately nostalgic, taking place in wide open spaces, sky, and the road."

On the idea behind the video, Levi says, "The car has always been my kind of getaway. When I've just been thinking about too much or I'm frustrated and not thinking straight, I get in, drive and blast music. I scream at the top of my lungs. Ever since writing music I've known I wanted to incorporate driving and singing into a video, and that's what we did with 'Sober'.

Kai Neville has brought this vision to life, and in the best way possible. Without him the feel and overall aesthetic of this project would not be where it is now."

Tyde will be releasing his debut self-titled EP this December 7th, featuring both previously released tracks.

Tyde hasn't always made music, but you'd be forgiven for thinking he has. With a confidence and agility that belies his age, Tyde sings about love, heartbreak and adolescence that places him firmly in a pantheon of the alt-R&B auteurs that he admires. Inspired by the critically-revered emotionally resonant work of artists like Frank Ocean and SZA, his music doesn't shoot for viral notoriety or international pop stardom. These songs, for Tyde, are the kind of songs that he likes to listen to--music that, no matter whether you're happy or sad, will feel like exactly what you need, when you need it.
