Global event cinema distributor, Trafalgar Releasing announced tickets are now on sale at cinemas worldwide for the release of Khalid: Free Spirit.Participating theaters and tickets can be found at FreeSpiritTheMovie.net.
The first of its kind event will land in cinemas on April 3, 2019 - two days before the release of the new album, Free Spirit, the highly anticipated sophomore album from multi-award winning artist, Khalid. The event represents the first time a new record will be shared with fans around the world in cinemas days before its release. The album will be released on April 5th 2019 via Right Hand Music Group / RCA Records.
Free Spirit is a short film conceived and created by Khalid and Emil Nava (award-winning music video director who has previously worked with artists including Calvin Harris, Sam Smith, Ed SHeeran, Eminem, Hailee Steinfeld and Jennifer Lopez).
The film is a direct creative parallel to Khalid's new album, using the new music to tell the stories of the beauty and the pain of growing up as Khalid has always done in his work. This film expands on his lyrics and artistry by sharing a visual story as a companion piece. The event night will begin with a special intro to fans, followed by the film screening and will conclude with the album listening featuring never-before seen commentary from Khalid discussing the importance of each song to the album.
Kymberli Frueh, SVP for Acquisitions for Trafalgar Releasing has said: "It's really exciting to be collaborating with Khalid and the teams at Right Hand Music Group, RCA Records and Sony Music on this unique theatrical event. This is the first ever in cinema global listening party and we are thrilled to bring this to Khalid's millions of fans. This is also Khalid's big screen debut. We believe that Free Spirit will be an unforgettable experience."
Also featured in the film are Dizzy Fae, Judah Lang, Estefania Preciado, Jahking Guillory and Edi Gathegi.
