Top 10 Finalists for Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class Revealed

The 10 finalists chosen for the Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class have been named today by the JUNO Awards and Slaight Music. These 10 emerging acts will advance through to a final round of judging for the third annual Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class, Canada's premier artist development program.

Artists advancing to the next round of judging include:

1. A.Y.E.: Calgary, AB (@iamaye)
2. Caveboy: Montreal, QC (@caveboymusic)
3. Elise LeGrow: Toronto, ON (@eliselegrow)
4. FEATURETTE: Toronto, ON (@featurettemusic)
5. Ivory Hours: London, ON (@ivoryhours)
6. Nice Horse: Calgary, AB (@nicehorsemusic)
7. Nuela Charles: Edmonton, AB (@NuelaCharles)
8. Quake Matthews: Halifax, NS (@quakematthews)
9. The Katherines: Vancouver, BC (@katherinesband)
10. The Treble: Winnipeg, MB (@thetrebleband)
The top 10 were chosen by a panel of music industry heavyweights that included representatives from major and independent music labels, publishers, agents, managers and media partners. The Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class marries the two key components of CARAS: music education through MusiCounts and the recognition and support of music excellence through The JUNO Awards.

A Super Jury comprised of JUNO alumni will select three winners, to be announced in September. Each will receive the tools, training and guidance needed to elevate their careers to the next level. Full prizing details can be found here

The winners will be determined by the 2018 Super Jury, comprised of JUNO Award winners Lights, Kardinal Offishall, Max Kerman (of Arkells), Gavin Brown, and industry executives Ali Slaight (Talent Development Coordinator at Slaight Music) and Allan Reid(President & CEO, CARAS/The JUNO Awards & MusiCounts).

Past winners of the Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class winners include Nova Scotia's electronic-pop group Neon Dreams, Newfoundland's pop-folk duo Fortunate Ones,Winnipeg's hip hop artists The Lytics, and indie artist Slow Leaves, and Vancouver-based dreamy indie-rock group Youngblood, and indie-rock band Derrival.

Partners of the 2018 Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class are Slaight Music, Canada's Music Incubator at Coalition Music, Manitoba Film and Music and the Canadian Federation of Musicians (CFM).

About Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class The Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class is an initiative that provides the crucial tools to help the three winners develop their careers, build their own sustainable business and become 'JUNO ready'. The 'Master Class' includes a week-long customized artist development program co-developed with Canada's Music Incubator at Coalition Music. This development program provides hands-on mentoring, networking and collaboration opportunities.
