Esteemed Grammy-nominated guitarist, composer and performerTOMMY EMMANUEL yesterday (11/30) unveiled the official music video for "Looking Forward To The Past" featuring Rodney Crowell with No Depression. Tara Joan of No Depression notes the upcoming ACCOMPLICE ONE album is "...a testament to his musical diversity with songs that stretch from authentic country-blues to face-melting rock via tender and devastatingly pure guitar playing." "When [Crowell] asked me to play on his new album, I suggested we trade and he sing on my album," EMMANUEL told American Songwriterwhichpremiered the audio of the song last week (11/21). "It was a deal! When I went to his studio to play on his track, he sang me this song and I came back the next day and we recorded 'Looking Forward To The Past.' Rodney works the same way I like to: sitting down and playing as if it's in front of an audience. We capture a performance, and we don't manufacture it." Crowell adds: "Playing guitar and singing with Tommy Emmanuel is like catching a ride with an F-15 fighter jet pilot. Gravity has no effect on Tommy; it's as if he literally flies a guitar."
ACCOMPLICE ONE--out January 19 on CGP Sounds and distributed by Thirty Tigers--is a 16-track collaborative album featuring guest artists such as Jason Isbell, Mark Knopfler, Rodney Crowell, Jerry Douglas, Amanda Shires, J.D. Rolling Stone Country partnered up with EMMANUEL to premiere"Borderline" featuring Amanda Shires, the moving roots-infused rendition of the Madonna classic, with Jon Freeman noting: "The danceable groove is time-shifted to a lilting waltz, with Shires' plaintive fiddle replacing the bubbly synthesizer hook. Shires' vocal performance, with harmonies from Emmanuel, adds a touch of vulnerability to the lyrics..."
