Brooklyn based singer-songwriter TOBY LIGHTMAN will be releasing her HOLIDAY LIGHTS EP (T Killa Music) on Nov. 6. The 7 song EP is a blend of original and traditional holiday songs recorded with her own unique style of classic soul meets modern pop.
On HOLIDAY LIGHTS, Toby puts a new spin on some traditional holiday songs we all know and love, while she adds her own original thoughts on our beloved holiday season. On the title track, "Holiday Lights" Toby grooves about the universal love of people coming together to enjoy the lights of the season, while "Winter's the Time for Love" expresses how much fun it is to be in love in the winter. "At Christmas" co-written with Shane Stevens (Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Lady Antebellum) gives the EP a motown spin on their uniquely original song that was the first single from country star Sara Evans' Christmas album last year. "Snow Day" is an acoustically sweet version of Toby's original recording that appeared in a commercial for Kmart in 2012. The EP also brings a whole new sound to the well-known "Jingle Bells" and "Up on the Housetop".
"With Kmart and Verizon using "Snow Day" in their commercials and then Sara recording "At Christmas", I thought to myself, I can get down with recording a whole holiday record. Being Jewish, I channeled my best Irving Berlin, because after all, everyone loves this time of year!" Toby says emphatically.
