Today, May 12, 2013 at 4:00 p.m., the Timberline Handbell Ensemble will premiere "Through the Storm: Hope Endures".

Music is the language of the human spirit, the universal expression of feelings and emotions. It has no boundaries, and can never be confined to a gallery or museum. Music brings beauty and meaning to our lives and gives voice to our grief and pain. Too many times in recent memory we've heard the staccato notes of violence in our communities.

This special handbell concert reflects peace, hope and healing in the wake of recent events, such as Deer Creek Middle School, Columbine High School, Platte Canyon High School, Aurora Theater, Sandy Hook Elementary, and too many others. It is about us coming together to experience and reflect on the joy and beauty in our worlds, the light that triumphs over darkness.

The title piece was commissioned by the VTV Family Outreach Foundation and private donors and is dedicated to the victims and survivors of the Virginia Tech shootings. It was written by nationally acclaimed, Virginia composer, Kathleen Wissinger, who will conduct this and two more of her compositions. Additional beautiful and uplifting selections will also be presented. The concert will be performed at:

St. Peter Claver Hall at Regis University, Main/Lowell campus
Denver, Colorado 80221
Use Entrance #4: two blocks north of 50th and Lowell
Parking: Lower Lot 4. Directions and maps available on Timberline's web site

Donations for the concert are greatly appreciated. To learn more about the concert, please visit www.timberlineringers.org.
