Theodore Announces North American CD Pressing of 2016 Debut LP IT IS BUT IT'S NOT

Just days ahead of his appearance at LA event MUSEXPO April 29, 9:30pm at SIR Studios, Greek composer and electronic musician Theodore has announced a North American CD pressing of his 2016 debut album It Is But It's Not via United We Fly, the label of which Theodore is founder and CEO. This pressing, the first time the album will be physically available in North America, arrives this Friday, roughly a month after his stellar North American live debut at SXSW, at which NPR Music became huge fans of his work. You can listen to It Is But It's Not single "Are We There Yet?" via NPR Music's Austin 100 and "What We Loved at SXSW 2018" playlists. Also featured in the latter playlist is a Theodore track titled "Towards? (for what is to come)"; this song, premiered in February via CLASH, is the first single from the follow-up to It Is But It's Not, slated for a fall release. Another single is fast-approaching, and the album will be formally announced roughly mid-summer.

Of special note are Theodore's mesmerizing live shows, which include his unique performance as opening act for Sigur Ros, showcases in major European festivals, and iconic locations in Greece, that persist in the minds of his audience.

Greek artist Theodore doesn't fit into one box. He's a dynamic multi-instrumentalist, composer, and performer who fuses electronic elements with classical composition methods. His creations are beautifully atmospheric and often cinematic, universally characterized by the contrasts in electronic and classical music. Theodore's clashing of genres allows a broad scope of movement from ethereal to post-rock, often within the same song. This contrast continues with his newest single, "Towards (for what is to come)," which arrived just before his trek to SXSW, his North American live debut.

Theodore will follow this new song with an album in the fall, to be released via United We Fly. The album will follow It Is But It's Not, on which he played piano, guitar, synthesizer and glockenspiel, while his bandmates added rock instrumentation alongside an elegant string section. Written and arranged by Theodore, the album was co-produced by Clive Martin (Queen, Reef), mixed by Ken Thomas (Sigur Rós, Moby, M83) over two years in London, and then performed live at the fabled Studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios.

Even from early on in his career, Theodore's talent and prospects have been nothing if not blatant. His unique mélange of influences, from Pink Floyd and Radiohead to a schooling in piano and traditional Greek folk music, has already taken him from Church Studios to the Temple of Zeus and supporting Sigur Ros at Release Athens Festival in 2016. Theodore's live gigs have turned into real word-of-mouth events; they're known to be both mesmerizing and memorable, the unique performance of him and his wildly talented band persisting in the minds of audiences for days, even weeks after.

Theodore has written the music for theatrical pieces including Matina Megla's Window and Vladan Nikolic's film Bourek. He was also commissioned to write a new score for Buster Keaton's classic silent comedy, The Cameraman (1928); he completed it in ten days, after which he and his band performed the score live to the film screening, in the unforgettable setting of the Temple of Zeus in Athens. Theodore described it as "one of the best moments of my life."
