"Swooner" opens with a strong rocky riff, but soon transforms into '80s- inspired pop bliss. Their retro sonic tour de force is effortlessly combined with the modern indie/ disco/ rock energetic feel of Bloc Party, giving us just a taste of The Zolas' fresh and youthful burst of creative energy. It doesn't end there though. The highlight must be the highly addictively striking chorus filled with hooks after hooks after hooks.
Clash Magazine premiered an
interactive 360° live video for the single that allows the viewer to toggle their viewpoint around the screen throughout the video.
When asked what Swooner is about, the band replied: "It's about those high-functioning women we all know who somehow manage to be the quarterback of their squad and the best at their job and politically engaged and the most fun person to have real talk with over beers. I don't know how you ladies do it but we salute you."
