The singles "The Concerto" and "Explanation" by The ZYG 808 have earned a place on the ballot for the 61st Annual Grammy. Both songs are from his debut E.P. "At The Party" which was released in early September of 2018.
When hip-hop jazz artist The ZYG 808 stepped out of the studio last May with his finished E.P., he knew he had something special. Dropping the single and music video for "The Concerto" during the summer, as it founds its way on to DJs playlists throughout the world, and royalties from streams started coming in, he found out he was right.
Singles "The Concerto" and "Explanation" have found there way onto the ballot for the 61st Grammys. It was a little over a year ago that The ZYG 808 called for a breakfast meeting with his father and GroovaLottos keyboardist, Mwalim to discuss his aspirations. The ZYG 808 had become a full member of The GroovaLottos the year before, but he had an idea about pursuing Hip-hop projects and wanted to create Soul Poets Records, a sub label to his father's Liberation Multimedia company that would focus on hip-hop and contemporary r&b.The ZYG 808 is busy working on his full album "The Intro" as his E.P. draws critical acclaim.
The ZYG 808 will be a featured performer at the HOWL FEST Concert & Dance on Halloween night at Cape Cod Community College along with J.R. Native and The GroovaLottos. Show time is 7PM.
