Cementing themselves as one of the country's finest live performers after a landmark set at Reading & Leeds Festival, The Wombats continue their indie onslaught by unveiling an outstanding new single in 'BEE-STING'. The track serves as an example of the band's ever-growing abilities to write the finest indie tunes and ignite crowds around the globe. "The weekend's unlikely smash is the reinvention of The Wombats into a slick, synthesiser-augmented, funny pop machine" said The Guardian of their Reading & Leeds mainstage set.
The Wombats step things up yet again on the live front with the announcement of their highest profile and biggest UK headline tour to date. Six huge shows across the isles, including a night at London's SSE Arena, will see the 2019 tour further cement the band's meteoric rise to one of the country's biggest guitar acts.
The band will also be releasing an extended version of Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, featuring three extra bonus tracks - new single 'BEE-STING', an acoustic version of one of the album's standout songs 'Lethal Combination', and a brand new track in 'Oceans'. 'BEE-STING' will also be released as a limited edition 7" on November 9th with 'Oceans' on the B-Side.
If beautiful people ruin The Wombats' lives, the resulting album will make your year. Peaking at #3 in the UK album chart as the highest new entry of that week, the album has since been streamed over 80 million times on Spotify, with glowing album reviews from The Times, Evening Standard, Metro, Sunday Times Culture, Daily Telegraph, DORK and more.
Their latest single 'Turn' was Annie Mac's Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, and received heavy rotation from Huw Stephens, Clara Amfo, Phil Taggart, Radio X's daytime playlist, as Virgin Radio's Single Of The Week, and performed live on Zoe Ball On Sunday for ITV.
After a sold-out UK & European tour including London's Alexandra Palace, "doubters take note, these Marsupials are officially massive", confirmed the NME, The Wombats have gone on to lay waste to crowds across the globe, including Reading & Leeds Festival, the 50th anniversary Isle Of Wight Festival, Y Not?, Glasgow Summer Series (supporting Kings Of Leon), extensive dates through North America in support to Weezer and The Pixies, and huge headline arena dates in Australia.
With no signs of slowing down, 2018 has been a phenomenal, groundbreaking year for The Wombats.
