"In high school, I was always known as someone who was looking for new music. I would spend a majority of my nights scrolling through Myspace and PureVolume, searching for something that was different and made a lasting impression. A handful of artists did and one that I landed on was American rock band, The Technicolors, who at that point were about to release their debut album Listener. The band, whose sound was obviously influenced by mid 90's Brit-pop and garage rock, managed to create something that was truly their own. Over the years, The Technicolors have matured as musicians and as I've followed their growth from one album to the next, I've become even more excited to see what the band has up their sleeves.
This July the band will be releasing their new album Metaphysical and today we are thrilled to be premiering the band's newest single, 'Congratulations, You're a Doll.' The track is one you'll find yourself playing on repeat and vibing to, in fact, that's exactly what the band intended. The band shares with us, 'Congratulations, You're a Doll is a long-winded tale about coming to terms with your mistakes, or not. It's a theme that just kind of popped up lyrically, and we wanted roll with it musically in a way that sounded like that of a desert disco; somethin' to make your shoulders shake & your booty quake.' Give the dance-worthy tune a spin in the player above! Fans have been anxiously waiting for new music from the Technicolors, as it's been over a year since their last release, and they will not be disappointed. The band shares with us how Metaphysical is different from their other albums, stating, 'We'll, we've always fancied ourselves a band based around the show. It's where our songs come to life. Some die. Some get a face-lift, or a name change. I suppose this is the first time we were able to capture that element on tape. And man, you can feel it. I can, at least. It's fuzzier, chimey-er, sneakier, heavier than the last bit, but it's still us.' Needless to say, Metaphysical is an album full of good tunes and good vibes which fans will be jamming to all summer.Videos
