The Subdudes return to the Jeanne Rimsky Theater, joining Marcia Ball for a rocking Mardi Gras concert on Friday, February 24, 2017, 8 PM.
The show's original lineup included the Buckwheat Zydeco band; The Subdudes stepped in after the untimely death of Buckwheat (Stanley Dural, Jr) on September 24.
At their last Landmark appearance in April, 2016, The Subdudes treated concertgoers to a full two hours of down home Louisiana bayou music, showcasing their trademark blend of R&B, jazz and rock'n'roll. The finale featured the entire band unplugging and coming down into the aisles for a series of acoustic numbers that had the audience on its feet, stomping and cheering for more. This time around, with Mardi Gras spirit added to the mix, audience members can expect another high energy outing.
This will be Marcia Ball's first appearance at Landmark, though she is well known to afcionados of the Louisiana jazz sound. The New York Times says, "Marcia Ball plays two-fisted New Orleans barrelhouse piano and sings in a husky, knowing voice about all the trouble men and women can get into on the way to a good time." On The Tattooed Lady And The Alligator Man, the message is loud and clear: Marcia Ball has plenty of surprising and thought-provoking stories to tell, and the piano prowess, sweet and soulful vocals and superlative songs with which to tell them.
