Nicholas Tillery has released his debut EP "Elastic Love" a couple months back, the Phoenix singer's first solo album under the monitor Future Soul. "Elastic Love" illustrates the challenging state of discovering and maintaining connections with people. While these songs are accounts of personal experiences, they also depict a broader outlook on what romance looks like today. iTunes / Spotify

Soulsynthetic instrumentation, Tillery strips it down using only the classic music foundations; a voice, piano, bass and drums. "I wanted to be direct, raw, and real. Take it back to basics and see what I could do with only four organic instruments" Nicholas explains of the instrumentation.

"The latest from Nicholas Tillery is undoubtedly soulful, but instead of electronic sounds "future" tends to imply these days, the track is minimalist but powerful piano-pop tune that showcases the Phoenix artist's stunning voice." - All Things Go

His lead single "Process" sets the tone for the EP "Elastic Love" and calls attention to the one-night-stand mentality that exists and how the result of that mindset is not at all what it seems to the unsuspecting. While "Faith"is a deeply personal account of a faithless relationship, the consequences of giving second chances, and self-realization.
"Faith" has this amazing, jazzy piano-driven spirit about it that recalls the musical arrangements of Ben Folds. Tillery's vocals, on the other hand, are breathy and sexy, nothing like Folds in that regard." - Phoenix New Times

Tillery began his musical journey playing drums for his high school thrash metal band in Phoenix, all while secretly perfecting his songwriting and piano expertise on the side. But it was move to Nashville later on that Tillery really began to mold himself into the singer and songwriter we know today.

During his time in Nashville, Tillery began to fall into a secret waging war of depression. Needing an emotional release, he shifted his focus back into songwriting and his new musical identity of Future Soul began to assemble. Knowing his needed to make some drastic life changes, Tillery packed up his belonging and moved back to his hometown in Phoenix where the vision of Future Soul became crystal clear. "We are so desperate to find comfort in one another that we rush and we lust, mistaking our temporary actions for something greater," Tillery states, "We find false comfort in the idea of someone. We bend and mold love to our own ideal situation." Although the lyrics on "Elastic Love" are comprised of darker tones, the music is a hopeful counterbalance.
Be on the lookout as Future Soul will be playing "Elastic Love" live throughout select cities this fall.
