Acclaimed by NPR for their "affinity for heavy duty rock and roll, windmill guitar riffs and karate kicks," The One and Only PPL MVR will serve as the house band at the upcoming Spike Guys' Choice Awards, set to be taped June 6th at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA. The show's airdate will be announced shortly.
Recently dubbed "the world's craziest band" by Billboard, The One and Only PPL MVR has a number of high profile live appearances scheduled for the coming months, including Milwaukee, WI's Summerfest (June 30th), Pemberton, BC's Pemberton Music Festival (July 18th), Colwood, BC's Rock The Shores (July 19th), and Columbus, OH's Fashion Meets Music Festival (September 5th). The One and Only PPL MVR have fast proven a sensation, ranked among Alternative Press' "100 Bands To Watch In 2015" while earning attention and applause for such EP highlights as "People Mover." "The One and Only PPL MVR are an unusual band," declared Billboard in a one-of-a-kind video interview filmed during this year's Sundance Film Festival (www.billboard.com/articles/events/sundance-2015/6450916/ppl-mvr-sundance-winterfest). "They look like three deranged versions of Chewbacca from Star Wars, and they communicate largely with screams, groans, and foot stomps." Kerrang! named the band to their "21 Artists Shaping The Future of Rock" feature, noting, "other than being three giant yetis that stomp around singing this song they wrote about themselves, not much is known about our galaxy's newest power trio. It's a great song though. And though (The One and Only PPL MVR) only communicate interviews through grunts, they've turned fair few heads very early on in their career." "Lest you think this is just spectacle with no substance," affirmed the ever-influential KCRW, "(The One and Only PPL MVR are) armed with a bunch of tracks to prove you wrong."
