Led by Chelsea Tipton II, the program will feature the orchestra and soulful vocal quartet Spectrum in a performance of timeless hits from the record label's celebrated male acts like Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, the O'Jays and The Four Tops.
Motown artists achieved significant crossover success with its distinct style of pop-influenced soul music known as "the Motown Sound" which, while difficult to replicate, became a mainstay in 1960s America as songs written and performed by Motown's artists gained a widespread following, solidifying the label's inimitable sound.
During Saturday's concert, the talented and versatile members of Spectrum will entertain audiences with chart-topping songs like "Get Ready," "Under the Boardwalk," "The Rubberband Man" and "My Girl," in addition to medleys celebrating The Four Seasons and The Righteous Brothers. For over 20 years, the four talented Spectrum vocalists have been recreating the sound and style of The Four Tops around the world. They have performed or recorded with Tony Bennett, The Temptations, Little Richard, The Platters and Frankie Lymon's Teenagers, among others.
