New Jersey punk rock trio THE MOMS has resurfaced with a new album, new record label, and a more refined sound. Doing Asbestos We Can is set for an October 13th release via seminal indie label Bar/None Records. PRE-ORDER: http://www.bar-none.com/the-moms
"The meaning behind the album title is two-fold," explains frontman Joey Nester. "Firstly, we rehearse in our basement where all of the steam pipes are insulated with asbestos. Secondly, in the interim period between albums we've been doing our best to juggle playing shows, writing music, and working enough to pay rent."
Doing Asbestos We Can was recorded at Barbershop Studios in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. It was produced and engineered by Brett Romnes (Brand New, Sorority Noise, Seaway) and Gary Cioni. From a plea to reconnect with someone great that you care about but the timing isn't right ("When We're Older") to being unfaithful and the emotional fallout from such an encounter ("Heartless") to addressing the people of the earth about temporary nature of their stay which was inspired by Mark Twain's
Letters from the Earth ("Soup Song") to the up-tempo horn-infused ditty about passing up opportunities and getting back on track ("Fortunate Former") featuring
The Front Bottoms' Ciaran O'Donnell -
The Moms has created a cohesive collection of songs.
Living the D.I.Y. dream since 2011,
The Moms is a hard charging trio from Morris Plains, NJ. Not only are they masters of the mosh pit - they also deliver memorable hook-filled songs often below the 2-minute mark. They've covered ground in the United States, Canada, and Japan including Skate & Surf Festival and three annual appearances at The Fest.
The Moms is Joey Nester (vocals, guitar), Jon Stolpe (bass), Matty Stolpe (drums). Doing Asbestos We Can will be released on October 13, 2017 via Bar/None Records.
