The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute celebrates the 150th anniversary of director, teacher and pioneer in actor training Konstantin Stanislavsky. Fifty years ago, Lee Strasberg represented the American Theatre community at the Stanislavsky Centenary celebration in Moscow, Russia. On April 19th, 2013, The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute will continue that tradition of celebration with a symposium intended to highlight the relationship between these two great acting teachers, explore their work, celebrate their discoveries and press into how they have affected the American Theatre.
WHO: This celebration brings together Sergei Tcherkasski (Head of the Acting Studio at the St. Petersburg Theatre Arts Academy, Russia), David Chambers (Professor of Directing at the Yale School of Drama), Louis Scheeder (Founder/Director of the Classical Studio, Interim Chair and Associate Dean of Faculty at NYU:Tisch School of the Arts, Drama Department), and Robert Ellermann (Stanislavsky Scholar and Acting Teacher at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute). Together these scholars will discuss the influence of these great master teachers, dispel myths about their work and ponder the future of Stanislavsky and Strasberg's legacy in the American Theatre.
