The Juke Joints in Adelaide and Whyalla Presents Abbe May, Mojo Webb, et. al, 10/8-9

The Juke Joint is back this October with three big shows over two nights, including its first regional show, all climaxing with multiple WAMi Award-winning blues-rock siren Abbe May.

Now in its third year, The Juke Joint has become one of SA's most loved homegrown music events because of its simple philosophy: plate up a feast of the best blues talent that this city and this country have to offer for undernourishedAdelaide music fans and let the high times roll.

This year, The Juke Joint will continue the two-night format established in 2009, opening on Friday, 8 October, with simultaneous shows in Adelaide and Whyalla.

In Adelaide, The Juke Joint hosts a Stobie Sounds tribute to Big Joe Williams, featuring renditions of the Delta blues icon's songs by Adelaide's finest blues and roots performers, including:

• three-time South Australian Songwriter of the Year and "one of Australia's finest slide-blues guitarists" (Hipnote), Cal Williams Jr.
• highly acclaimed alt-country duo The Yearlings
• winner of a number-one spot on the Australian Blues Radio Chart for his album Double Voodoo Blues, Sweet Baby James
• winner of the 2009 Killing Floor Blues Challenge, Kirk Special
• Adelaide institution, Billy Bob and the BBQ Boys
• The Streamliners' revered frontman, Nick Kipridis
• Tara Carragher, and
• Justin J. Garner.

Out west, The Juke Joint will shake the red dust off Whyalla when Abbe May and blues howler Mojo Webb hit the Left Hand Club, before returning to Adelaide to complete the big bill on Saturday, 9 October:

• winner of Best Female Vocalist and Best Blues or Roots Act at the 2010 WAMi Awards, Abbe May (WA)
• a man so talented he sang and played guitar, harmonica, saxophone, bass and drums on every track of his award-winning album The Burden, Mojo Webb (QLD)
• unmissable blues-fiddle talent Heather Stewart (VIC) with acclaimed Adelaide duo Sweet Baby James and Rob Eyers (SA), and
• a supergroup of Adelaide Blues Award winners, including Nick Kipridis (The Streamliners), Dennis Kipridis (The Streamliners) and Dave Blight (The Flyers) with guests.

Both Adelaide shows will be held at Level 1, 9 Light Square, Adelaide.
