Canadian-born, NYC-based songstress Kim Boekbinder performs under the moniker The Impossible Girl, crafting lush, genre-defying songs that fuse elements of electronic and acoustic music. A performer, composer, and visual artist, Boekbinder is known for being a master of crowdfunding- in 2010, she successfully funded her debut LP and pre-sold a US tour via Kickstarter, and went on to fan-fund her new release, The Sky Is Calling. Released June 21st & produced by Joel Hamilton (The Black Keys, Tom Waits, Pretty Lights), the album is a celebration of humans in space. It is currently available for purchase via Kim's website.
Opening the album with an infectious electric energy, "Stellar Alchemist" is driven by a whirlwind of instrumentation swirling above heavy, driving percussion. Kim just released a video for the track, directed by animator Jim Batt (who's responsible for the short stop-motion-animated film "
I Have Your Heart" and Amanda Palmer's "
Want It Back" video.) You can check out the cosmic "Stellar Alchemist" video where it premiered with

The Sky Is Calling launches listeners into the stratosphere with captivating pop songs that are packed with scientific themes and otherworldly sounds. Title track "The Sky is Calling" showcases Boekbinder's sweet but commanding vocals above dense layers of instrumentation and reverberating vocal harmonies. "Hand To Mouth" is a shimmering slower cut with a melancholic tone that captures the cold, dark loneliness of outer space, while "Alie
n" does its title justice with a haunting, otherworldly quality that stays with you long after the song ends.
Stay tuned for more from The Impossible Girl, coming soon!
