The Grand 1894 Opera House welcomes the Grammy Award-winning vocal group The Manhattan Transfer for a special afternoon of their greatest hits and Christmas favorites, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 4 pm. This special matinee performance will be even more meaningful as it will pay tribute to the late Tim Hauser, co-founder of this extraordinary quartet. Tickets may be purchased at The Grand's Box Office, 2020 Postoffice Street, by calling 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or online at www.thegrand.com.

Since breaking into the music business some 40 years ago, The Manhattan Transfer has reigned as one of the most important and innovative vocal groups in the history of popular music. The quartet's tight harmonies, riveting arrangements, and smooth style have led to 10 Grammy Awards, including a first-ever Grammy win in both Pop and Jazz categories in the same year (Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "Boy From New York City," and Best Jazz Performance, Duo or Group for "Until I Met You (Corner Pocket)," both from their sixth studio album, Mecca for Moderns).

For their Grand 1894 Opera House debut, Janis Siegel, Alan Paul, Cheryl Bentyne, and Trist Ethan Curless will deliver a sparkling performance that showcases their amazing vocal talents in jazz, pop, doo-wop, scat, and world beat styles. Enjoy holiday cheer and cool jazz, including Transfer classics like "Java Jive," "Tuxedo Junction," and "Birdland."

Curless - though new to this famous quartet, is no stranger to vocal harmonies nor to The Manhattan Transfer. He co-founded the pop-jazz group m-pact, has performed in concert halls around the world and written, arranged and produced many of the group's songs. Audiences can look forward to a Grand afternoon of The Manhattan Transfer's most popular hits combined with a special tribute to the late, great Tim Hauser. This performance is sponsored in part by AM1070 Radio and in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and Texas Commission on the Arts.
