The Courtneys Share New Video MINNESOTA, Touring With Cloud Nothings Image

The Courtneys hit us with their new video "Minnesota" just before they join Cloud Nothings on tour at the end of this month (full show list below). Filmed at Mt. Washington on Vancouver Island and inspired by 90's sky videos by Dinosaur Jr. and The Breeders, they saw their chance to pay homage to several shots from Dinosaur Jr.'s video "Out There".

The Courtneys go on to explain, "Minnesota talks about snow, so we had the idea early on to a do a ski video. Sydney and Courtney used to snowboard together after work, and Jen loves everything winter-related, so it was a blast to make. We recruited Rick, Courtney's stepdad, to get action shots for us and Courtney's mom makes a cameo as a stunt double!"

Beloved power pop trio, The Courtneys released their sophomore album The Courtneys IIon Flying Nun Records last year. As their number one influence for years, the legendary label signed the trio as their first non-New Zealand act. The Courtneys drift back to the sound of the early '90s, drawing from strong influences including Teenage Fanclub, Pavement, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, and The Clean. Guitarist Courtney Loove, bassist Sydney Koke and drummer/lead singer Jen Twynn Payne come together through a passionate collaborative songwriting process to deliver a special blend of fuzzy "artisanal grunge".

Stay tuned for more as The Courtneys return to the studio next year!
