Southend on Sea's rising four piece The Collier have announced the release of their new single 'Loose Hearts', out June 15th. Listen to the single HERE.
The electric new track follows the release of their debut single 'I'm Older' earlier in the year, which was accompanied by visuals shot by award winning directed David Morris (Ben Howard, James Bay, Coldplay).
Recorded at the iconic Rockfield Studios in South Wales by heavy-weight producer Ali Staton (Pulp, Madonna & PJ Harvey), 'Loose Hearts' offers up a refreshing blend of both charming guitar tones and stadium-ready melodies which shapes the tracks driving build.
Comprised of Joshua Hixson (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Ellis Davis (backing vocals and lead guitar), Shaun Bowie (bass) and George Rutherford (Drums), the band draw influences from leading rock figures stretching from The National, Kill Moon as well as Radiohead and Biffy Clyro.
Speaking on the single, the band said...
"Our overall sound and direction has really matured over the years, and 'Loose Hearts' represents that development. It's not uncommon to look into yourself to try and find what else is there to contribute, so there's definitely a sense of self deprecation we wanted to portray".
Working alongside Ali Staton on the record, the band continue to say...
"Being in the studio with Ali was incredible - he really encouraged us to experiment with different sounds and styles which inevitably helped us capture the energy of the live performance into the record".
2018 is certainly shaping up to be an exciting year for The Collier, with 'Loose Hearts' being the first of four songs to be released over the next few months and live shows to be announced - their captivating energy and anthemic melodies on and off stage are enough to position them as a 2018 one to watch.
