Known for his moody blend of garage-influenced soul, blues, roots, and Americana,
The Bones of J.R. Jones is preparing to release his third studio album, Ones To Keep Close, on May 11th. Produced with Rob Niederpruem in Brooklyn, NY, the album is a crisp, eleven-track collection of stomp-along songs that evoke a vivid spectrum of emotion.
Hailing from Upstate New York, The Bones of J.R. Jones is the solo project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jonathon Linaberry. Today, he shares the gritty new single "I See You" with American Songwriter. "This track is very much in my top three off of this album," he comments. "I originally wrote it with a bit halftime swagger rhythm. Once we got it in the studio, though, it kind of took on a life of it's own and became meaty raucousness all its own. It's an amazing thing to see how a song can change before your eyes."
The Bones of J.R. Jones previously shared the lead single "Burden" featuring soul-psych luminary Nicole Atkins. His critically acclaimed 2016 album Spirit's Furnace found Linaberry expanding the scope of his musical vision while stripping away the excess with tracks like "The Heat" and "Bless Your Soul." On Ones To Keep Close, he emerges with his most ambitious work to date - pushing his artistic boundaries while still remaining true to his roots.
In anticipation of the upcoming album, The Bones of J.R. Jones is currently on the road hitting cities such as Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and more. See below for a full date listing + tickets are available for purchase here!
