Produced by the band's longtime collaborator Jacknife Lee (The Killers, U2, Taylor Swift, Weezer, One Direction) "Snake Tongue" elevates The Beaches' signature tongue-in-cheek style, throwing a middle finger at unwanted advances. Inspired by their own experiences, from catcalls to unsolicited dick pics, the lyrics ask an obvious but seldom asked question: "Why would you think I'd want to meet you?"

"At the risk of sounding like a marketing campaign that targets women, I wrote 'Snake Tongue' about our own experiences, but hope that it empowers women who are constantly on the receiving end of unwanted attention to take back some control in small but meaningful ways." - Lead singer, Jordan Miller.

The Beaches also release the video for "Snake Tongue" today. Directed by Ally Pankiw, the rollicking visuals celebrate the destruction of objects presented to women by suitors with an antiquated idea of romance. Pearl necklaces and floral arrangements are torn apart while other gifts are burned and battered, all surrounding a colourful and energy-packed performance by the Toronto-based band.

"Snake Tongue" is The Beaches' first release of 2019, following a whirlwind couple of years for the band. After two self-released EPs, The Beaches unveiled their debut album Late Show in October 2017. Late Show was recorded in Toronto and produced by Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw of Metric and mixed by multi-Grammy Award-winner Tchad Blake. The album propelled the band to a JUNO for Breakthrough Group of the Year and the album's singles went on to become instant radio favourites, with the infectious "Money" topping alternative radio charts and "T-Shirt" securing #1 for nine weeks on the Billboard Rock Chart.

Last year also saw the band headlining their first ever national tour, accompanying The Glorious Sons on their North American Tour, performing as a supporting act for the Foo Fighters on their Toronto date, receiving their first iHeart MMVA nomination in the "Best New Canadian Artist" category where they performed their hit "T-Shirt," while Sir Elton John, whose support for the girls spans multiple singles, has exclaimed: "Love them, love them, love them!" The year closed out with new track "Fascination" firmly embedded in the top 10 at alternative radio in Canada.
