Singer Florence LaRue joined the fledgling group The 5th Dimension in 1965 when they started down a successful sound path with their first hit "Go Where You Wanna Go". It started a run of more than 15 years on the charts that produced 17 Top 30 songs and won the group 14 Gold records, six Platinum and six Grammy Awards for their multi-million selling hits. Those songs, including "Wedding Bell Blues", "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" and the group's signature "Up, Up and Away", are ingrained in the public consciousness. Florence LaRue, the last original member of the group, attributes the group's staying power to the strength of their songs which represent "good, clean, positive music, and music that people can reflect back on."
The 5th Dimension was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002 and has a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame (2010).
