Canadian Music Week (CMW), jointly presented by San Rafael '71 and Amsterdam Brewing, is pleased to announce confirmed speakers, events, and award recipients for the Industry Conferences and Awards taking place May 9 - 12, 2018 at the Sheraton Centre and Rebel Entertainment Complex.
The Canadian Music and
Broadcast Industry Awards will be hosted byJessi Cruickshank on Thursday, May 10, 2018 to celebrate the best and brightest in all fields of the Canadian music and broadcast industries. Previously announced honourees include:
Arcade Fire as the 2018 recipient of the Allan Slaight Humanitarian
Spirit Award;
Paul Anka as the Allan Waters
Broadcast Lifetime Achievement Award recipient; and Robert 'TooTall' Wagenaar (CHOM FM), Patti-Anne Tarlton (Ticketmaster), Jeff Craib (The Feldman Agency), and David Farrell (FYI Music) as the 2018 inductees to the Canadian Music
Industry Hall of Fame.
Paul Shaffer will once again host the Live Music
Industry Awards on Friday, May 11, 2018, where multi-platinum rock band
Billy Talent will receive the
Legends of Live Special Achievement Award. The Live Music
Industry Awards celebrate the best in the business with award presentations and live musical performances at the Sheraton Centre, Dominion Ballroom.
Canadian Music Week and
The Guild of Music Supervisors are proud to present the first annual Canadian Sync Awards on Saturday, May 12, 2018, sponsored by songtradr. The Canadian Sync Awards are the only awards in the country to recognize the contribution synch makes to the creative industries. Nominees will include music supervisors, synch teams, publishers, record companies plus the worlds of broadcast and advertising with categories including Best Music Supervision - Feature or Documentary Film, Best Sync - Commercial, Sync Artist or Songwriter of the Year and the Icon Award.
The Tech and Innovation Summit (formerly Digital Media Summit) on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 will provide insight into branding, marketing and multi-platform content integration with sessions including "Spotify Master Class", "The Launch: Talent Search Reality TV Finally Gets Real", "Hack A Thon," a VR/AR expo presented by Magnify World, and a keynote presentation from Jackie Wilgar, Executive Vice President of Marketing at Live Nation.
Canadian Music Week's 4-day Music Summit will include celebrity interviews, panels and workshops May 9 -12, 2018. Music Summit highlights include appearances by Laura Pearce, Head of Consumer Marketing at Twitter Canada; Jason Flom, President of Lava Records; Marcie Allen, President of MAC Presents, Jared Smith, President of Ticketmaster North America; legendary producer Nile Rodgers; Steve Lillywhite, CEO of Jagonya Music and Sport Indonesia; and an international spotlight on Mexico and the United States.

The Music Cities Summit returns Saturday, May 12, 2018 to explore the relationship between creative city planning and the role of music in an urban setting. Speakers from municipal governments and music industries from around the world will include:

Radio Interactive: International Radio Summit returns to CMW May 10 - 11, 2018 for a deep look into the state of broadcasting. The Radio Summit brings the industry together to discuss social media, marketing, programming, regulatory issues, and new technology including appearances by Caroline Beasley, Chief Executive Officer of Beasley Media Group, and Nashville radio host Bobby Bones. The Canadian Radio Music Awards will spotlight the best broadcasters and radio personalities, and first-time charting artists hitting the airwaves on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
