Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair Set for San Antonio, March 16-18

This weekend, the 32nd Annual Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair will take over downtown San Antonio, March 16-18, 2012, as hundreds of bands and thousands of fans from near and far fill historic Market Square to hear the three-day Tejano music marathon. But before the first band takes the stage, fans can attend two kick-off events to get into the spirit:

OFFICIAL TMA KICK-OFF DANCE, 6 pm -12 Midnight, Thursday, March 15, 2012, La Villita Assembly Hall:

The doors of La Villita Assembly Hall open at 6 p.m. and for a $10 admission charge, fans can enjoy performances from Raulito Navaira, featuring his daughter, Destiny, a talented singer in her own right; high-spirited accordionist/vocalist Sunny Sauceda; veterans Joe Bravo and David Marez; Ricardo Castillon y La Diferenzia, Roger Velasquez, and Hugo Guerrero y La Conexion. TMA FAN FAIR KICK-OFF CONCERT/BREAKFAST, 6 am - 9 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2012, Market Square:

Free breakfast tacos and a performance by Grammy-winning Los Texmaniacs await Tejano fans brave enough to venture out during the early morning hours Friday for a lively kick-off concert. Other Tejano artists will be on hand for the Fan Fair wake-up call! Hear from Tejano’s new generation: Ricky Valenz, Juaquin Cura, Monica Castro, and Jessica Baeza and Dominazion de Abdon Espinoza, Jr., Audi Y Zentimiento, and Loz Fleaz.

THE MAIN EVENT: FAN FAIR WEEKEND, FRIDAY-SUNDAY, MARCH 16-18, 2012, MARKET SQUARE:

32nd Annual TMA Fan Fair: Three days of FREE live Tejano music on six stages. FREE ADMISSION; 12 Noon – 10 pm , Friday-Sunday, March 16,17,18, 2012 at the Historic Market Square in downtown San Antonio, Texas. Performances, autograph sessions for fans and an estimated crowd of 85,000.

This year’s lineup includes more than 130 bands on multiple stages. An estimated 85,000 fans will travel from Texas and beyond for the Fan Fair experience that includes autograph sessions and access to the artists. Like the fans, many performers hail from around the country, too, including Arizona, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, and Illinois. In addition to music, the family-friendly Fan Fair offers an array of food and beverage booths and the historic Market Square’s shops and restaurants.

TMA Fan Fair performers represent the present and future of Tejano music and some of the many acts to watch, include: familiar favorites like Raulito Navaira, Michael Salgado, Shelly Lares, Stefani Montiel and Patsy Torres, Gary Hobbs, Hometown Boys, Grupo Siggno, K1 and newcomers such as Ricky Valenz of Michigan and Audi y Zentimiento of Colorado. Other highlights will include artists who have moved on to solo careers, such as Marqell (former lead vocalist for David Lee Garza y Los Musicales), and Cacy Savala (former vocalist with Jimmy Gonzalez y Grupo Mazz).
