In the video, the critically acclaimed Boston-born and Los Angeles-based Haitian-American artist doesn't shy away from putting her man in his place by hosting a different kind of painting party as her girls give a new meaning to "fine art." You have to see it to believe it!
Lensed by EMMY® Award-nominated director James Bland [Giants], the video co-stars fellow Haitian-American actor Jean Elie [HBO's Insecure] and boasts a cameo from viral social media star Lala Milan [BET's Boomerang].
The visual aligns with her larger-than-life persona and explosive music. Extolling the song, Dancing Astronaut praised how, "her voice bends and jumps with equal parts coolness and edge, her delivery smooth enough to require rewinds on the lyrics' unapologetically raw takedowns," and ThisisRnb called it, "mesmerizing."
TeaMarrr has only just begun making headlines, though. She is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with on stage. Of a recent gig at TheBasement, Los Angeles Timesclaimed her "fiery showing received a rousing ovation," and OnesToWatch dubbed her "a powerhouse."
On November 26, TeaMarrr will be opening for H.E.R. at the House of Blues in Boston.
Her forthcoming album, Tea Turns To Wine, due out in 2019 on Position Music, might just be the libation R&B needs to reach the next level.
Get ready to drink up with TeaMarrr.
TeaMarrr's 2017 debut EP, Thanks for the Chapstick slowly but surely generated a buzz, cracking 600K cumulative Spotify streams and earning early acclaim from ThisIsRnB, COLORS, and more. Meanwhile, her first 2018 release "Bent Hella"surpassed 131K Spotify streams in three months' time as she relocated to Los Angeles and crafted what would become, Tea Turns To Wine with producer Kareem James [Kiana Ledé].
The music mirrors TeaMarrr's own unpredictability. She explains that her ever-changing gray streaks of hair often symbolize "wisdom" and "feeling invincible," while she carries teacups until they break. "Each broken teacup marks a new beginning. I stopped freaking out after the first cup broke because a plethora of blessings usually follow," she explains.
More blessings to come...
