Just a few months after Taylor Tote had her music video debut in front of a packed house at the Two River Theatre in Red Bank, she's back with her second video release. This time around, she's not only introducing a new video -- her band is going unplugged for the first time.
Tonight, June 24, Tote and her band will headline Tim McLoone's Supper Club (1200 Ocean Avenue) in Asbury Park, NJ where she will world premiere the music video for "All You Left Behind" from her self-titled EP. The video was shot in Paterson, NJ and directed by Kostas Lymperopoulos.
Doors open at 6pm; Elya Vasiliev gets the night started at 7pm followed by Michael Ghegan and Tote's band, which will play until 9pm. Admission is $15.
"I think the venue plays a big role in the type of show you're putting on," said Tote. "McLoone's is extremely classy but laid-back at the same time. The atmosphere really matches the style of the song and our set."
Tote has performed acoustically before as a solo artist and with one or two musicians playing alongside her, but she has never done an all acoustic band show before. She's excited to see the reaction from the audience because the acoustic setting lets people truly hear the songs in a stripped down manner, letting them peer behind the curtain into all that goes into her songs.
In just a few short years, Tote has made quite a splash on the New Jersey music scene. The 19-year old Jersey Shore native, who lists artists like Amy Winehouse, Grace Potter, Adele, Maroon 5, and Stevie Nicks as influences, was named by NJ.com as one of the "25 must-hear local bands" for her "big voice, old soul' style. "She is dominating, empowering, strong, soft, sexy, and insanely fun," writes the Aquarian Weekly. "Her attitude and stage presence is smooth, sweet, and controlled. However, it can be flipped like a switch to a rock and roll, hell-stomping diva. Her range is one of a rock 'n' roll vixen that will send your music senses on the ride of your life."
Tote's extremely talented band members include standout lead guitarist Tom Briant, Anthony Flora on drums, Nick Piescor on guitar, and Julian Michalski on bass. Each band member brings something unique and edgy to the mix.
Previous performances include opening spots for the likes of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band, Michelle Moore, and Val Emmich. In 2014, Tote earned Asbury Music Award (AMA) nominations for "Top Female Vocalist", "Top Female Solo/Acoustic Act", and "Top Young Band". In July 2014, she had the honor of performing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden in NYC for New York Liberty.
Tote's summer will continue on a high note with a trip to Nashville, TN where she will perform at the She Rocks Summer NAMM Showcase on July 9. The showcase is presented by the Women's International Music Network (WiMN).
